Helsby Girl Guides Makeover

Frodsham and District Round Table were approached by Helsby Girl Guides leaders to contribute towards a new kitchen for there hut. However beyond the usual response from RT940, a team lead by the intrepid and fearless Comm Serve officer, Ian Hayes, the tablers took matters into there own hands.

Many tablers chipped in to rip out the old kitchen, decorate and replace it with a nice new kitchen. Ian felt particularly pleased and stated “I personally had a sense of achievement, in that we didn’t just write a cheque, we grafted (Blood, sweat and comedy accidents) and made a big difference to a guide leader who gives up so much time helping others”.

The Guide leader was over whelmed and to say she was pleased would be an under statement. She was so grateful and speechless at what we had achieved in such a short space of time. When she could find her words all she could say was “Amazing, It’s Amazing”.

Jacks charity donation

Frodsham and district round table presented local boy Jack Armstrong and his parents, Mark and Natalie, with a cheque made out to the Sunrise foundation last week. Jack who has autism went to the US to bring on his development and Natalie reports fantastic progress since attending the centre.

The money was raised by a small team from the local round table through a sponsored cycle ride over the gruelling coast to coast route. The tablers rode Whitehaven to Tyneside which is just short of 150 miles in 3 days this May. All costs for the coast to coast ride was met by the individuals in the team from there own pockets.

Majorettes Charity Donation

Frodsham and district round table have donated £400 towards new equipment for Vale Royal Majorettes. The majorettes are non profit organisation who perform dance routines to music using pom poms, batons, ribbons and flags. The have performed at many local fetes and galas and Frodsham Round Table is always happy to help support local good causes.

They practise at Weaver Vale School, Ship Street Frodsham on a Thursday and were presented with their cheque by one of our youngest members of Frodsham and District Round Table Mike Dimelow who admited he always wanted to be a majorette himself.

For the third year in a row, a team of eight intrepid explorers from Frodsham and District round table have cycled the grueling 142 mile route from Coast to Coast in 4 days, from Whitehaven to Newcastle and jointly raising several thousand pounds for local good causes.

This ride encompasses some of the highest peaks in the country, totaling around 3500 meters of ascent and was a fantastic achievement for the whole group cyclers, all of them crossing the finish line together.

The team of round tablers were joined by the father of a six year old boy from Kingsley with autism. His parents are attempting to raise money to get him onto the sunrise program in America and a majority of the proceeds are going to support them.

The teams efforts were closely followed on twitter and facebook, but it was not all pain though, the team managed to find time to support many of the local taverns on route and a good time was had by all. See details of the event on our web site frodshamroundtable.co.uk
