Remember – Grip it softly, stroke it smooth and you’ll sink it right in the hole!
10. Ah, nuts…my shaft is bent.
9. After 18 holes I can barely walk.
8. You really whacked the hell out of that sucker.
7. Look at the size of his putter.
6. Keep your head down and spread your legs a bit more.
5. Mind if I join your threesome?
4. Stand with your back turned and drop it.
3. My hands are so sweaty I can’t get a good grip.
2. Nice stroke, but your follow through has a lot to be desired.
And the number 1 thing that sounds dirty in golf but isn’t:
1. Hold up…I need to wash my balls first.
Dave Jacks
Dave the Younger has been a keen addition to the crew, significantly bringing the average age of table down. Happily joined us most nights on the Christmas float and has thrown himself into many activities especially Caving in Alderley Edge.
Roundtable do bonfire at community centre
Frodsham and District Round Table have never really done things by halves. Check out the bonfire Nov 5th 2010.
This spectacular bonfire was then followed with our very own highly trained pyrotechnics display.
Tim Gibbs
Tim is a mad canoer and part of the Chartered Surveyors fraternity. He is currently honouring us with his services as Council Secretary and his sense of humour makes us all laugh.
He is pretty good at Mountain Biking and gives Mike Dimelow and John Davis a good run for their money !
Steve Brown
Hi I am Steve and I like motor sports. Not a great footy or rugby fan. I have a wife (Karen) and 2 children (Liam,13 and Ben,10).
I love driving and riding my motorbike, also caravanning, cycling and walking.

Steve Brian – Honourary
Steve Brian is serving a year as an honoury member for all the hard years service he put in as treasurer.
His hobby is to count money from all the donations we receive for charity. Now this does not give him the midas touch of gold, actually he usually has ‘green and brown smelly fingers’ from all that copper you put in the donation tubs. Please, please help Steve overcome this condition and only put in silver or paper money – he especially loves paper money!
Steve is part of the infamous ‘Frodsham C’ team that participate in the annual ‘hike and bike’ event in the Lakes. However their participation is not to actually ‘hike and bike’, but to ‘walk and drink’ ! Never mind, at least they take part in the after day events – Frodsham C – born winners!

Ian Hayes
Ian is our Community Service Council Member. This means he has the joy of giving our cheques to local charities and good causes. He has been in round table since dinosaurs walked the earth and yet still hasn’t been evicted to 41 club. He claims to be less than 45 but we haven’t seen his birth certificate – possibly because they hadn’t been invented back then?
Ian has this strange fungus that grows on his face, we try not to notice or bring it to his attention!, this was following a challenge on Hike n Bike with 3 spoons, 3 bowls containing wallpaper paste, sawdust and Maggots! you can guess the rest. The shooting stage of the challenges left an even better scar on his face.
Status : Happily married (so she keeps telling me), with two Children (one of each)
Favourite Tv Programme : ‘Don’t do TV’ but if I did, it would probably be MOTD/Sky sports

Sports : Moutain Biking, Football,Skiing and the Occasional Jog.
Hobbies : Drinking!
Ambition : Having done the Coast to coast twice it has to be to cycle John o Groats to Lands End. Preparation starts now for September.
I am a demon mountain bike rider, however I prefer pillion, especially after a few scoops drowning my sorrows following the pool!
My best parts of Round Table : The weekends away (Hike n Bike, Dads and kids, Chairmans surprize, National Sporting Weekend) and the Christmas Float.
Favourite club : Liverpool FC (still the most succesful by far!-certainly in Fergies lifetime)
Dislikes : Man Utd
John Davies
John is our Mr Gadget of Roundtable – if it’s new and worth having, then John has it.
A past semi professional Cyclist – (more…)
Matt Browning – Vice
Allen Wales – Past Chairman
Allen actually found us via our web site, which is great news. Allen has already shown a great interest in our charity work, in addition to the social side of the business. The only thing we can say so far to his wife Ruth – ‘He must try really hard to win the golden boot award, this is not for the faint hearted’! (You need to be in our table to know about that one).
Fave web sites -
- sainsbury – where you will find great food and service !
- and is practicing at updating the website
Martin Saddler
Been in table now for 54 years and it has been the best 54 years of my life – great lads and great ladies (Partners and Wives). Great events, great fellowship, great fun.
I work as an Production Manager at the General Motors Manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port (Vauxhall to eveyone else).
Life time achievement – Walked up a little hill in Africa called Kilimanjaro – was very sick - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cJbtDEBzdKw
Have an interest in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – having 6 in total. Milly,Rosie, Honey,Daisy, Lucky and Archie.
If you do not have much of a social life, want to make lasting friendships, as an individual and as a family and have a ‘seriously good crack’, I suggest you get in touch !

Eddy Cottrell
Eddy Cottrell has been with Frodsham and District Round table on and off for a long time. After letting it lapse a few years ago he realised he missed us too much and had to rejoin. He is now our Entertains officer and desperately trying to organise the two big events in his calendar. Dads and Kids and the other one.
Nick Key
Nick Key is one of newest members first joining us at Chester Races. He has now taken the role of Sergeant at arms which mean he need to remember everyone’s follies and bring them up to tease us with them.
As a keen runner he was once mistaken for a Gazelle and chased by Lions.
Matt Burrow
Another resident of Kingsley, Matt is now our council treasurer also known as money bags or minge.
We promised a handsome photo of Matt in his speedos but there were too many complaints :>
Dave Jarman
He travelled the world (well actually just went for an extended holiday) to New Zealand, Australia, India, Egypt. Sri Lanka and Mexico. That was before Swine flu had even been thought of.
He claims he is a ‘demon’ at squash. but that’s probably because he only ever play some computer geeks. Our friend (and secretary) Matt (the good looking bloke, according to his blog) reckons he can give him a decent game (‘my mum is a squash coach’). Time will tell but the super competitive nature means it could be a good match.
Mike Dimelow
Commonly known as ‘Gizmo’, Mike is one our our youngest members but that does mean he is afraid to throw himself at every challenge (and a lot of trees on his bike).
Mike has many hidden talents, he most recently demonstarted his ‘comedy falling off a chair’ trick to amazed Tablers. In Mike’s case – He can fall off!!!!
Mike runs a local radio station and entertainments business, known as ‘Zonewolf’ – see our links page for details.
Steve Hilditch
Steve has rejoined Roundtable after previously being in Shirley Roundtable – he knows the score and has already proven to be an great ‘hands-on’ guy by all the work he performed, helping to clean up the Roundtable storage facility !!!
Roger Mason
Roger is our chatterbox of Roundtable – he never shuts up ! Good job he is a lovely guy.
Rog has an intimate relationship with trains – whoooo, whooo, and an morbid interest in SALT!
In 2006 he took up Mountian biking, doing the Coast to Coast route twice since, once for Childrens Wish with Round Table and once ‘for fun’. This year he did it as an honoury member of 41 club.
He recently commented that “The only problem with Mountain biking is that every time I start to chat, I get a mouth full of mud – so I have to keep quiet!” That’s why we are all so pleased that you took it up – Rog !
Destined to set the manufacturing world alight with his corporate seminar skills, Rog makes an excellent after dinner speaker. Recently he has found fame in an international manufacturing magazine – and tabler magazine – our very own celebrity.

National train enquiries
Simon Webster
Simon is a local builder with plenty to offer Round table. Currently building his house from the ground up. We’ve offer to help but he can’t find that much beer so were just gonna decorate!
Steve Santry
Steve has proved a riot and a jolly nice chap. He transferred from Heswall Round table and is responsible for organising a fantastic Coast to Coast this year.
Chris Daly
Chris is an production manager based at a local pipe making firm – similar to the one that Mr M O’Sullivan works at – oh, its the same one !
Chris recently realised that he can’t fly – and gained the nick name Orville because of his attempts at it.
He has been a really star in his council post of fellowship but acknowledges it is a hard job to make people commit in time.
Thursday 29th July 2010 – Kingswood Bowls
Thursday 29th July 2010 – Kingswood Bowls.
Plenty of beer topped off with some great food.
The fellowship booked for next Thursday at Kingswood bowls will start at 7:00 pm the price will be approximately £11. The price will be inclusive of green fee and a top notch BBQ, there is a fully licensed bar on site so please can everyone try and not drive!!!
Kingswood bowls is located on new pale road, Kingswood, Frodsham.
Roger won the Whiskey taking the crown from Matt Burrow on the last bowl, and then managed to smash it with his bike, what a waste! Chris was playing with his Ginger Balls and both DJ and Allen were crap (it is official) and still managed to lose even with professionals on there teams.
Frodsham and District Round Table take the Trophy
Twelve members of Frodsham and District Roundtable joined teams from all over the country to take part in the annual Hike and Bike competition (www.hikeandbike.org.uk). The local members managed to secure first and sixth place in a competition that sees teams from all over the country compete in hiking, mountain biking and orienteering. Some of our less competitive members also managed to not take home the wooden spoon, despite being the only ones to retire on the first day. The event encourages members to meet up with other areas and have a great social night out as well.
This is just one of the activities that Frodsham and District Round Table participate in for men aged between 18 and 45. We are always keen to welcome new members of if you are interested, have a look at rt940.co.uk or ring Allen Wales on 07870 639497.
